A wiki is a collaboratively written text; typically it is a text that is never complete - in that it is open for repeated editing. The text is organised into hyperlinked sections and can be self referential or can refer to sites beyond itself. It is an online text and makes good use of the web's ability to allow multiple authors to edit and update posts.
It is a good example of using web 2.0 to produce text which is collaboratively authored and able to be updated (theoretically) an infinite number of times. Wikipedia is probably the best known example of a wiki.
Many educationalists dislike wikipedia, mistrusting the information it provides
